Electrodeionization, referred to as EDI, is a ultra-pure water manufacturing technology that combines ion-exchange technology, ion-exchange membrane technology with ion migration technique, and belongs to a high-tech green technology. EDI ultra-pure water treatment equipment is composed of a RO unit and EDI Modules.
Principle
Electrodeionization (EDI) system is a scientific water treatment technology that electrolyte ions in water pass through the clapboard and then move directionally in the DC electric field, and using of the selective permeability of ion-exchange membrane makes water purify. Between a pair of electrodialysis electrodes, the space is usually arrayed alternately by anion membrane, cation membrane and the clapboard (A, B) to form waste room and pure water room (cation through cation membrane, anion through anion membrane). When cation in water is moving to the negative direction through cation membrane, it’s remained by anion membrane in waste room. When anion in water is moving to the positive direction through anion membrane, it’s remained by cation membrane in waste room. So the number of ions in pure water room decrease and the pure water is congested, but in waste room just the opposite. So the purposes of dilution, concentration and purification can be achieved.
